Join us every month for family art-making at the High!There's a new theme each month to provide inspiration, but visitors also have the freedom to play and experiment with their materials to create anything imaginable. Collaborate with your family on creating an original work of art, and then explore the galleries with a scavenger hunt to find even more artwork related to that month's theme!Designed for children ages six through twelve years with their caregivers, Family Art Escapes gives families an opportunity to create, collaborate, and investigate in the Museum. A High Museum staff member is always present to support your art-making and provide any additional information about programming at the High.Three Time Slots:10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.Space is limited. Preregistration is required.Your ticket includes access to the Museum galleries.Family Art Escapes Monthly ThemeMay: Fantastic FlowersPlease note: face coverings are required for anyone over the age of two, even for visitors who have been fully vaccinated. A face shield can be worn but must be worn in conjunction with a face covering for entry. Seating at Family Art Escapes is based on social distancing guidelines. The Greene Family Learning Gallery is temporarily closed to minimize the spread of COVID-19. For additional information, please see the Reopening FAQs.Also Happening on Campus:The Alliance Theatre is offering special family performances as part of the new Under the Tent Series. The series includes daytime programming for families featuring concert-style performances of SONGS TO GROW ON. Performances will take place in a tent erected on Callaway Plaza adjacent to the Alliance Theatre's home at the Woodruff Arts Center.Tickets are sold in pods of 2-4 people. Tickets must be purchased separately on the Alliance Theatre website, and walk-up tickets are not available.SONGS TO GROW ONMay 6-16 (coincides with Family Art Escapes on May 8)A Woody Guthrie concert for children! - A family friendly concert event featuring American folk music legend Woody Guthrie's classic children's songs. Performed by Rob Lawhon and drawn primarily from Guthrie's iconic album Songs to Grow on for Mother and Child, this cycle of songs captures the whimsy, joy, and wonder of childhood in three chords & a whole lot of fun.
